Serving the Celestial Throne:
Court Officials Robes of Qing China
and Joseon Korea
24.Oct.2019 - 30.Jun.2020
The exhibition Serving the Celestial Throne: Court Officials Robes of Qing China and Joseon Korea presents official attire worn by officers in the governmental bureaucracy during Korea’s Joseon dynasty (1392-1910) and China’s Qing dynasty (1644-1912), as well as their portraits.
The current exhibition presents outstanding examples of historical embroidery from both China and Korea. We hope that visitors will appreciate the beauty of these fine court costumes as well as the techniques that the embroiderers used and the ideas that their designs originally communicated.
